Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery

The second floor of Syracuse University’s Lubin House is home to the Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery, Syracuse University Art Museum’s visual arts venue in midtown Manhattan. The Gallery hosts several exhibits a year featuring the extensive permanent collection of Syracuse University, as well as works from alumni and faculty artists, Coalition of Museum and Art Centers partners such as Light Work, Point of Contact Gallery, and Community Folk Art Center, and the annual Wynn Newhouse Foundation’s awards exhibition for artists who happen to have disabilities. In addition, the Gallery has featured works on loan from collectors or other galleries, and site specific installations by contemporary artists.

Currents: Sarah McCoubrey
June 9 – September 19, 2025

This exhibition celebrates over 34 years of art by Syracuse University professor emerita, Sarah McCoubrey, features a survey of the artist’s exploration of a variety of media and output including themes of ecology, technology, landscape and humanity. This is the first retrospective exhibition examining McCoubrey’s career that showcases her well-known landscape paintings alongside recent and never-before-seen paintings and drawings.

This exhibition was curated by Andrew J. Saluti, Associate Professor of Museum Studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
